DJ Marcia Carr is a legendary figure in the UK dance music scene, a vinyl aficionado and radio presenter whose four decades behind the decks have made her one of the most respected and uplifting forces in global club culture. A former street and jazz dancer, she brings a dancer’s intuition to every set - shaping deep, soulful, and jazz-infused journeys that glide through house, techno, Afro, gospel, disco, broken beat, nu-jazz, Brasilia, dubstep and beyond. Her musical storytelling is emotional, vibrant, and undeniably her own.
Marcia’s footprint spans a remarkable list of festivals, from We Out Here, Love Supreme, Across The Tracks and É Soul Cultura to Southport Weekender, Margate Soul Festival, Brixton Disco Festival, Boogie Town and Flow. She has lit up iconic clubs such as Fabric, The Jazz Cafe, Ministry of Sound, Night Tales, The Cause and Soho House, with shows across the UK - from Brighton to Bristol, Manchester to Leeds, Birmingham - and an ever-growing number of international appearances. Wherever she plays, her warmth, charisma and unmistakable presence resonate with audiences of every age and background.
Celebrated also for her vinyl-only sets as Marcia DaVinylMC, she commands deep respect throughout the underground. Her admirers include house heavyweights like Louie Vega and Kerri Chandler, who describe her musical knowledge as “one of the most prolific in our scene” and praise her ability to deliver “a beautiful musical journey” every time she steps behind the decks.
Marcia’s radio history is equally expansive, with appearances on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Rinse FM, Worldwide FM, NTS, Balamii, The Boat Pod and stations stretching from Miami to Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Canada to Greece and Ibiza. A true cultural catalyst, Marcia founded the all-vinyl women’s collective Girlz B Like, now celebrating over a decade of empowering female talent.
